Met Gala 2018 - Hillbilly is bored
I am slightly disappointed at this years MetGala2018. There were a few interesting dresses, a few beautiful ones, but a lot of them were well… The theme of the ball was so interesting, spanning over the centuries, so I expected more imagination. I expected that designers would reach into rich art heritage of catholic church and come out with interpretations that are new, fresh, and innovative. Where were peacocks - symbol of eternal life; glorious chance to use rich colors and precious stones; fish, pelicans, acanthus,…etc. Anyone ever seen a Baroque altar? This the statue in a small village church somewhere where no one ever heard of. It was carved out of wood by local, 17. century woodcarvers who never been anywhere, never seen a big opulent court dresses yet they seemed to posses incredible imagination.
